A Magazine for the Still-Curious

Rogue & Journal is an independent adventure magazine devoted to exploration in all its forms.

It brings together expedition reports, historical investigations, practical field knowledge, interviews, essays, photography, artwork, and stories from people who have followed their curiosity somewhere unexpected.

Some stories begin in jungles, ruins, mountains, or distant countries.

Others begin in archives, museums, forgotten newspapers, local legends, or with one question that refuses to leave you alone.

What connects them is the search.

Rogue & Journal exists to record those searches, share what was learned, and preserve the stories that might otherwise disappear.

What Lives Between the Covers

Field Reports

First-hand accounts from expeditions, journeys, investigations, and days in the field.

Not only the successes, but also the wrong turns, failed plans, bad weather, uncertainty, and strange moments that make the story worth telling.

History and Research

Forgotten events, overlooked places, ancient mysteries, lost records, archaeological questions, local legends, and the histories that still shape the world around us.

Research does not have to remain trapped inside academic language. Knowledge should be understandable, engaging, and shared.

Practical Knowledge

Lessons learned through experience—from preparing a field camp and planning a journey to researching a theory, documenting discoveries, and knowing when an idea has wandered too far from the evidence.

The sort of knowledge that might prove useful one day, or at least make an excellent story when everything goes wrong.

People and Perspectives

Interviews, personal accounts, photography, artwork, and stories from people who experience exploration differently.

Rogue & Journal is not built around one person’s definition of adventure. It becomes stronger when different voices, backgrounds, professions, and perspectives meet within its pages.

Adventure Without the Polishing

We are interested in the romanticism of adventure, but not in pretending that every journey is heroic, graceful, or successful.

Real exploration can be beautiful, uncomfortable, ridiculous, frustrating, profound, and occasionally held together by string, stubbornness, and a plan that stopped working several hours ago.

Rogue & Journal does not remove those parts from the story.

We believe the mud matters.

The uncertainty matters.

The missed trains, questionable decisions, damp notebooks, unexpected kindness, and discoveries that seemed insignificant until much later all matter.

Adventure is not made less romantic by being honest.

It becomes more human.

Made to Be Kept

Rogue & Journal is designed as something more lasting than another piece of content passing through a screen.

It is a magazine made to be opened on a desk, carried in a bag, left beside a chair, marked with notes, lent to a friend, and rediscovered years later.

The print edition is at the heart of Rogue & Journal.

A digital edition will make the magazine accessible wherever our readers happen to be, but the physical magazine remains the truest expression of what we are creating: a modern exploration journal that can be held, revisited, and kept.

Each issue is designed with the character of a well-used field publication—full of stories, photographs, illustrations, notes, and evidence that curiosity is rarely tidy.

Issue #1 — Introduction

The first issue of Rogue & Journal is our opening chapter.

It introduces the people behind the magazine, the forms that modern exploration can take, and the kind of stories we want to preserve.

Inside, readers will find practical field knowledge, historical research, personal essays, interviews, expedition reports, photography, artwork, and a journey into the jungles of Nepal in search of the Kumari Caves.

It is an issue about beginnings.

The beginning of the magazine, the beginning of new investigations, and the moment when curiosity becomes a journey.

A Look Inside

Every issue combines long-form stories with photography, illustrations, maps, handwritten details, field notes, and visual fragments gathered from the journey.

The design is intended to feel less like a polished catalogue and more like an expedition journal that has passed through many hands.

A place where research, memory, evidence, humour, and adventure can share the same page.

There Is Always Another Story

The world may be mapped, photographed, measured, and searchable—but it has not finished telling its stories.

There are still forgotten histories to recover, overlooked places to investigate, people worth listening to, and journeys whose lessons deserve to be shared.

Rogue & Journal exists to give those stories a home.
